Food Drive Winter 2021

Today, more than ever, so many of our neighbors are in need of affordable, nutrient-rich foods. To assist them, we are reaching out to our community, local merchants, and plant-based businesses to collect items and hold a food drive to distribute items to those in need. In the midst of a pandemic, we all must keep ourselves as healthy as possible and a focus on the increase of grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables, and fruits in our diet is a great way to do that.

During January, we will be collecting items, with distributions to occur to households in need in February.

Give what you don’t need to help others who do.

All non-perishable, plant-based food; cruelty-free personal products; and pet food or supplies are welcome.

These items include, but are not limited to:

  • Canned or dried beans
  • Boxed pasta
  • Lentils
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Rice
  • Nut butters
  • Oatmeal
  • Jarred or canned sauces
  • Dried fruit
  • Chips, crackers, and snacks
  • Cat litter

Please email us at mfapa7@gmail.com to coordinate in-kind donations. You may also PayPal us at donations@mfapa.org for monetary donations, which will be used to purchase these items ourselves for distribution. All proceeds, whether in-kind or monetary, will go directly to families in need.

Thank you for thinking of others this year.

Remembering Regan Russell

Join us for a peaceful vigil in honor of vegan activist Regan Russell this Sunday, June 28 at Villanova University

Regan Russell was a beloved activist in Toronto, Ontario, dedicating her life to those who needed her most. She was fiercely committed and would not be silenced by unjust laws, or pressure from mega-industries trying to hide abuses. She had her life taken while offering a moment of comfort to pigs destined for slaughter. We will not be silent either, about injustice, about cruelty, or about her death.

Help MFA PA Support Black Lives Matter Protesters

Mobilization for Animals PA, Inc., stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter protestors. We are currently collecting donations to feed protestors from Philly local restaurants Blackbird Pizzeria and 20th Street Pizza.

We’re also working with Gangster Vegan in Norristown (recent protests here in Montgomery county have centered around unseating a Commissioner).

To contribute, please use our PayPal giving fund to donate without fees.

We’re also looking for volunteers to pick up from both locations in the coming days around lunchtime and help deliver to the protests. Already tomorrow we could use help with an order from 20th Street Pizza. Please contact us directly if you are able to act as a pickup or delivery person.

Keep up the good fight!

URGENT: Ask Senate to Revise HEROES Act!

Following up our recent post regarding the HEROES Act, we are asking everyone to contact their senators to demand revisions protecting farmed animals now that the legislation has been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. As drafted, it would give essentially a bailout to large agribusinesses for “depopulating” their farmed animals. These mass killings are a brutal way to deal with these poor animals who are already given such a cruel fate.

ENOUGH OF OUR HARD-EARNED TAXPAYER DOLLARS ALREADY GO TO SUBSIDIZE THE HORRENDOUS MASS-PRODUCTION AND SLAUGHTER OF BILLIONS OF ANIMALS EACH YEAR.  THESE INDUSTRIES ARE NIGHTMARES FOR PUBLIC HEALTH. THE ENVIRONMENT, AND ALL ANIMALS, HUMAN AND NON-HUMAN ALIKE, WHO ARE FORCED TO WORK AND LIVE IN THESE FILTHY CONDITIONS.

NO BAILOUTS FOR AGRIBUSINESS!

PLEASE SIGN, THEN FORWARD AND WIDE!

URGENT: Farmed animals need your help now!

Billions of federal tax dollars are once again being slated for COVID-19 relief in the upcoming HEROES Act.  As the petition states, these should be going to those most in need (people who have lost income and healthcare, suddenly become stay-at-home parents with no access to childcare assistance, struggling to feed themselves, their kids and their pets, etc), not to providing funding for horrific killing methods of already severely abused animals destined for food.

EcoFest@Pottstown 2019: Volunteers, Participants, and Social Media Experts Needed!

Hi Everyone!

Here’s the link for our new and improved second year Ecofest, to take place on April 27, 2019 in conjunction with the Pottstown Climate March:

http://pottstownecofest.com

We need lots of volunteers to help set up, help vendors get set up, monitor the park to make sure people are properly using the recycling and composting areas, staff the Mobilization for Animals’ registration and information tables, and help pack up at day’s end.  Please spare a few hours for the Earth and all the species who share it!

Please post to any email lists, social media outlets, bulletin boards, or anything else to which you have access.

Also, if your organization or business would like to be a vendor or sponsor, that information is also on our website.

Hope to see you there, one way or another!

Thanks for anything you can do!

Take care,
Jenny

As a follow-up to her recent post regarding the hunting in Ridley Creek and Tyler State Parks, our own Jenny has penned a thoughtful and thorough guest column in the The Delaware County Daily Times AKA The Delco Times entitled “Deer are not our enemy”.  Please show your support for the deer by commenting on the article and sharing widely.

Deer slaughters in OUR state parks, please call or email

Once again, the horrific slaughter of deer in our state parks will occur this week.  Ridley Creek State Park actually had an extra day, last week!  I was UNAWARE of this or would have asked people to call in right at that time.
