Two Huge Losses: Priscilla Cohn Ferrater-Mora & Val Trivigno

It’s with a very heavy heart that I must announce the passing of two wonderful animal advocates and dear friends. I’m sure many of you have already heard of these sad events through social media and other outlets, but I wanted to pass it along just in case.

I had the pleasure to know both of them for many many years, and it was a mixed blessing to be with them in their final days. Glad to be part of their support system, but terribly sad to know they were leaving the planet.

Priscilla and Val were both amazing women who devoted their lives to making a more humane world. I will miss them both terribly as friends and activists.

Priscilla spent the last few years dealing with Parkinson’s and trying to recuperate from a terrible fall. She was just never able to get back on her feet and lost her battle this past Thursday, June 27, at 6 PM. Her son and grandson are caring for her dogs now, and her cats are going to a great local rescue. She was truly a great force for the animals, especially wildlife. More information about her life and work can be found here and here.

Val gave it her all to come back against colon cancer for the last three years. We lost her at 3 AM on Saturday, June 29. Her fiery spirit and unwavering compassion will always stay with us. Sadly, she did not make any arrangements for the cats though several of us are trying to handle this. Donations for ongoing vet care, supplies, and placement are being taken through a dedicated Go Fund Me campaign. In addition, a memorial for Val will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Miss Rachel’s Pantry.

Again, they both leave legacies of decades of hard work for our non-human brethren, which live on in our memories.

Take care, Jenny
